The Tuia 250 commemorations kicked off in Gisborne to mark 250 years since the arrival of Captain James Cook aboard the Endeavour to NZ. It included a celebration of the Pacific’s voyaging heritage too. However not all are on board with the event. The $20 million taxpayer funded event sparking much controversy for Māori and Pacific concerning NZ’s colonial history. Moana Makapelu Lee with this story.
