Ten secondary schools in Wellington will take part in the annual TuTagata Polynesian Festival at the end of the month.
This year will mark 44 years since the festival started. Groups from Rongotai College, St. Catherine’s College, St. Mary’s College, St. Patrick’s College Wellington, Wellington College, Wellington East Girls College, Wellington Girls College, and poly groups from the three included schools, Scots College, Taita College and Bishop Viard College will present 12-minute brackets on the night
The TuTagata Festival provides a platform for the Capital to showcase the cultural and linguistic diversity of participating schools. The event brings together many Pacific parents, families, and community members to watch their sons and daughters perform the art and measina of the Pacific. Excellence in performance and in being Pacific in New Zealand.
The key objective of TuTagata is to support youth leadership with the planning and event led by students and teachers on the TuTagata Komiti. TuTagata provides a platform for student leaders to lead in their schools and in the organisation of the event. This leadership is shown in the polished, magical brackets of creativity
The host school is Wellington College.
