Pasifika Rugby Hall of Fame Inductees announced

Seven Pasifika sporting legends were acknowledged at the inaugural Pasifika Rugby Hall of Fame held at Eden Park in Auckland.

Chairperson La’auli Sir Michael Jones says, “we’re excited to begin the Hall of Fame’s journey at a ground which has showcased so much amazing rugby by Pasifika players and is the spiritual home of rugby.”

 “The first seven inductees have individually made such huge contributions to rugby here in Aotearoa, the Pacific region and globally – their influence on our beloved game and our communities has been phenomenal.

“They have greatly enhanced the profile of Pasifika rugby across the world, and they continue to inspire the next generation of Pasifika rugby players.”

Congratulations goes to the inaugural inductees:
Seiuli Fiao’o Fa’amausili
The late Papali’itele Peter Fatialofa
Muliagatele Brian Lima
The late Jonah Lomu
Waisale Serevi
George Smith
Tuifa’asisina Sir Bryan Williams

Also acknowledged for their contribution to rugby:
Ardie Savea received the Jonah Lomu award for for the most influential Pasifika male player in the world
Ruby Tui is the recipient of the Seiuli Fiao’o Fa’amausili award for the most influential Pasifika women player in the world
Manaé Feleu and Mark Telea received the Waisale Serevi award for the Pasifika breakthrough player of the year
