Lively re-presents his single, Climbing in a long overdue music video release.

The audio track was originally released during the 2020 lockdown as part of his 4 track EP, L.M.F. and, with the visuals added to it, Climbing is a smooth hip-hop and r&b infused summer jam of positive vibrations.

Taking the listener on an atmospheric cruise of sweet melodies and BVs laid over an easy groove and fluid beat, Climbing showcases Lively’s effortless and silky flow. The fresh and hopeful tune is about rising above adversity to chase your dreams, achieve your goals and live the life you aspire to lead.

The Ōtara based singer-songwriter and MC/rapper wrote Climbing in 2019 with the help of his cousin TJ Buford aka CreationKit who created the beat. Due to restrictions and low funds at the time, Lively had to learn to mix and master his own project from scratch.

“[It was] a truly humbling experience. I have a soft spot for this song as it’s my first indentation in music as an artist, the start of something great for me,” Lively says.

Portraying his wandering mind through director Pele Nili’s lens, Lively finds himself daydreaming a lot and wanted this to be reflected in the video.

“Space is vast and with almost uncountable discoveries, and I’m gliding through admiring it all. I kind of see life like that in some sense,” Lively says.

The young artist is currently a member of The Groovehouse ensemble, which is the home of NZ Tui and Pacific Award-winning duo CYDEL. Lively also counts fellow creatives Giantkilla, Siavani (his father), Zacnon and OD Mo$t as his talented stablemates.

Lively says his plans in moving forward is to keep up the grind and never give up, especially if you’re from the hood.

“Everyone has their time so be patient,” he says.
