Singer-songwriter Mia Kami has released a new music video for her first single, ‘Rooted’, dedicated to people of the Pacific.
“The second ‘Rooted’ dropped, it was no longer a song that belonged to only me; it now belongs to indigenous people, to people of the Pacific, to my loved ones, to my ancestors,” Kami told her followers on her Instagram. “This video is everything I had visualised for the song, and I’m so excited for people to see it.”
Mia Kami is of Tongan descent and lives in Fiji, where most of the music video was shot. ‘Rooted’ celebrates these connections as well as other places and cultures in the Pacific.
“No matter where we are, we are here to stay because we are rooted in our place, our cultures, our traditions and our people… I hope you feel the mana we felt bringing this vision to life.”
