Meet Ministry of Education Pacific Education Award Winner South Auckland Maths Challenge (Josephina Tamatoa and Katalina Ma).
Josephina Tamatoa and Katalina Ma set out to give Pacific students an opportunity to compete in mathematics challenges. Creating initiatives and opportunities for Pacific and Māori students to prepare well for competition, they started with six schools in 2019, and now, in 2023, they’ve expanded to 15 secondary schools across the Auckland region. Most of all, they are making math fun!
