Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa (DIAA) has announced that older Pacific people will now have access to digital learning resources.
The funding approved by Minister for Seniors Ginny Anderson, will allow a further three thousand seniors to join DIAA’s Better Digital Futures programme which aims to help them engage with the digital world.
Delivered to more than 130 locations by 57 community partners, the programme is open to any Pacific person aged 55+ seeking to develop new digital skills or become more confident in using digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers.
The programme includes six learning pathways, each with four lessons focusing on specific digital skills and is delivered by a network of local community organisations. This will include public libraries, social service providers, marae, and local technology hubs.
This initiative will help to bridge the digital divide and ensure that older Pacific people have the digital skills they need to participate in a fast-paced society.
