One of those invested in Wellington recently for a New Year’s Honours Award was the Reverend Pelu Tuai of Auckland. Reverend Tuai received the Queen’s Service Medal
A stalwart of the Ranui Pacific Islands Presbyterian church in West Auckland, of which he helped establish, Reverend Tuai’s been instrumental in many of its parish and community activities. He helped develop a catering business run out of the church and was a key figure in the set-up of the Ranui Youth in Motion Trust. In 2012, with Ministry of Education support, he introduced the programme Achieving Through Pasifika Languages to the church for the children and youth to learn the Samoan language.
