From Invercargill to Wellington, South Auckland and Samoa, newly appointed Principal Youth Court Judge for Aotearoa, Judge Ida Malosi, says she has always known she would be called to a life of service.
With a career in the legal sector that spans more than 30 years, Malosi became the Pacific community’s first-ever female District Court Judge in 2002. Now, she adds another milestone twenty years later as the first Pacific person and the first woman Principal Youth Court Judge.
Judge Malosi sat down with reporter Gladys Hartson to talk about her work in the judicial system, her hopes and aspirations for the youth of Aotearoa, and how she’s excited to bring what she’s learned – mainly from South Auckland – to the new role
