K ROAD CHRONICLES
Domestic abuse is something no one likes to talk about, but that’s exactly why it keeps happening. Breaking Silence is a TP Plus series sharing real stories from survivors across Aotearoa—stories that deserve to be heard. These aren’t just accounts of hardship; they’re about strength, survival, and what it takes to break free.
For many, speaking up isn’t easy. Some don’t realise they’re in an abusive situation, while others feel trapped, afraid, or unsure of where to turn. That’s why these stories matter. They let people know they’re not alone and show that there is a way forward.
But awareness is only the beginning. Real change happens when we recognise the signs, challenge outdated attitudes, and make sure people know there’s support available. Breaking Silence isn’t just about telling stories—it’s about starting conversations that lead to action. Because the more we talk about this, the harder it is for abuse to stay hidden.
Six explores the urgent issue of food insecurity in Aotearoa, where 15–20% of the population cannot afford enough food or worries about their next meal.
Six Till Six with Six is a personal portrait of our beloved host, Six, as she navigates a challenging chapter in her life.

Six visits two Auckland City Mission housing initiatives; a transitional housing facility for wāhine offering a safe place to live and trauma-informed therapy and a refurbished hotel.
In her hometown, Six visits a night shelter where she was first homeless while transitioning. She discovers the place has changed immeasurably to meet the needs of today’s more gender-diverse population.
After revisiting her hometown of Hamilton, Six reflects on coming out trans, becoming homeless, finding shelter and studying for a journalism degree. She decides to visit her mum.
There are hundreds of young people who are couch surfing or crashing at friends who don’t even realise they are homeless.

Keith is a synthetic cannabis addict. He’s been on and off the streets for 14 years. We follow his struggle to find a habitable place to stay.
Can you be homeless and care for a pet? To find out, Six follows Ben, a young man who has a dog called Buddy.
Just when all seems to be going well, Six is burgled. This puts the production of the K’ Road Chronicle at risk.
