Polynesian music sensation Lomez Brown is back, and he is bringing a whole new depth to the table with the release of his latest single Cover Me.
The track serves as the debut single from his upcoming album Underrated, which is already available on all streaming platforms, along with the music video to match.
Unlike his other Poly reggaeton singles, Cover Me delivers a message with a more spiritual approach. Something Lomez holds dear to his heart.
“Cover Me is a Christian song, and I put it first because I wanted to honour God first,” he says.
For Lomez, the message of faith goes beyond his music, opening up about the challenges of staying true to his values in an industry that often pulls artists in different directions.
“It can be quite daunting as a Christian man in this industry… but not just in the industry, in the world,” he says.
The single also offers a glimpse into what fans can expect from Underrated, Lomez Brown’s highly anticipated first full-length album.
After making a name for himself with hit songs like Sweet Lover, which went double platinum in 2023, and collaborating with major names in the Pacific reggae scene, Lomez believes he’s found himself at a more ‘mature’ stage in his career.
Despite the success, the album title reflects how he still sees himself as an underdog.
The inspiration behind the name Underrated spawned when the artist was re-visiting old YouTube comments in some of his earlier work.
“There was this thing where people would say ‘man, this guy is underrated,’ he says.
Although admitting to initially feeling offended, he soon felt it as a sentiment that became a source of empowerment.
“I started to see it as, ‘I kind of represent the underdog in a way.'”
Paying homage to how far he’s come as an artist, Lomez believes Underrated is a nod to his personal journey and the growth that has come with it.
Since stepping into the music scene in 2013 and with over 25 million combined streams and earning multiple accolades and awards, it’s this album that he says he’s looking forward to sharing with his listeners.
“This is probably a new version of me, a new mature me. So I wanted to sort of represent that more and stand for more,” he says.
Lomez Brown’s new album Underrated is set for release later this year. In the meantime, you can catch Cover Me on all streaming platforms.
