In a written statement released by the government of Samoa, Prime Minister Fiamē Naomi Mata’afa met with Head of State Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aleto’a Sualauvi II to advise that the Appropriations Bill for the Government budget for 2205/2026 could not proceed to the first reading in Parliament.
The Prime Minister has advised Tuimaleali’ifano that it is necessary to dissolve Parliament in order for the country to proceed to the General Elections. A formal notice will be duly gazetted to confirm the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly.
During this process the cabinet will continue as caretaker government, until the first session of the Legislative Assembly following dissolution.
