WATCH: New music video ‘Jonah – Nothing is Impossible’ honours life of Jonah Lomu

Nadene Lomu in MGN's music video honouring Jonah Lomu

A new music video launched today honours the life of legendary rugby player Jonah Lomu on what would have been his 46th birthday.

‘Jonah – Nothing is Impossible’ is produced by Kiwi band MGN – My Greatest Now. 80% of any royalties from the song will go towards charitable projects run by Jonah’s wife, Nadene Lomu.

“Jonah and Nadene had big plans to do loads of charity work before Jonah passed, and this music project now gives Nadene the opportunity to continue Jonah’s legacy and promote his memory and wonderful contribution to humanity,” says MGN singer Raymond Bishop.

The band turned the song around in just 30 days, and chose to release it on Jonah’s birthday on May 12th 2021 on Nadene’s suggestion.

“I feel this is a great way to share his inspiration, especially with the challenges we all face daily,” says Nadene.

“All music lovers will know what I mean that when you listen to the song, you need to turn up the volume to a Jonah volume loud; the louder the better, and you can’t help but feel moved and uplifted. Everyone will have their own feelings when they listen to the song, but for me, it brings out many emotions, even ones where I feel I can take on the world.”

Nadene continues to work on projects she and Jonah were developing together prior to his untimely passing to help inspire future generations, including Jonah Lomu Scholarships, sponsorships and Jonah’s JL11 clothing brand.

To celebrate Jonah’s birthday this year, Nadene is launching a new scholarship at Rotorua Boys’ High School with Chris Grinter, who was Jonah’s mentor when he was at school. Nadene will be involved in selecting the recipients of the scholarship, which will enable sporting opportunities for school students from Year 11.

Proceeds from MGN’s song, as well as from JL11, will help contribute to ongoing projects like these, “helping others to not only chase their dreams but to believe in themselves and to be the best they can be”, says Nadene. “Something that has always been close to both Jonah’s and my heart, something I will continue to instil in our boys, Brayley and Dhyreille.”
