It’s been just over a week in Alert Level 4 lockdown in New Zealand. Here’s some of our favourite social media lockdown challenges that made us smile in Week 1.
DANCE CHALLENGE
From police officers to lawyers to rugby players, lockdown’s got a whole lot of people up on their feet.
Here’s some moves from the Counties Manukau Police Pacific Responsiveness Team:
Lawyer Reina Va’ai and probation officers Fetalaiga Tapeli, Agnes Suisala and Jason Tetini practise physical distancing in a quick dance break outside Manukau District Court:
And how good are Julian Savea and wife Tima Savea’s moves?!
But the award for isolation dance king goes to Joseph Parker. Check out his viral re-enactment of Hugh Grant’s ‘Dancing Prime Minister’ scene from the film Love Actually.

PUSH UP CHALLENGE
The premise is simple – people are nominated to post a video of themselves on Instagram completing (or attempting!) 10 push-ups. Influencer Torrell of The Cougar Boys breaks down the types of people doing this challenge:

20M CHALLENGE
Keeping with the fitness theme, the #20metresprintchallenge was started by Ardie Savea this week to see who can sprint the fastest in 20 metres. The fastest sprinter will be announced at the end of the week. BLESSGOO?
INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE CHALLENGE
Lockdown is a chance to connect with family and connect with your roots. In this Instagram challenge, people are encouraged to introduce themselves in their indigenous language #IndigenousLanguageChallenge.
The Tongan language template is based off the below:
THE BEAR HUNT
Teddy bears are popping up in windows nationwide to keep children (and adults…) entertained on their walks. Cook Islander Laura Daniel, reporter for TVNZ’s Seven Sharp, got the lowdown:
