Award winning radio news reader Niva Retimanu has done it again, named Best newsreader for 2022 at the New Zealand Radio Awards. The ceremony was held at Sky city in Auckland earlier this week.
The awards acknowledge the hard work within all aspects of the radio industry celebrating the on-air personalities, news & sports coverage, content and promotion teams, advertising and community involvement.
Of Samoan heritage from Invercargill, Niva has been recognised for her wealth of experience as a journalist and newsreader in a career that spans more than 30 years.
Niva is currently the newsreader on Newstalk ZB’s The Mike Hosking Breakfast show. She is also the co-host of NZ Herald podcast Straight Up, alongside former Olympian Beatrice Faumuina.
Niva was named Best newsreader in 2001, 2003, 2010, 2017, 2018, and 2020. Her book Leading from behind was published in 2016.
