The return of the largest secondary school Polynesian festival in the world, Polyfest, is just days away.

The ASB Polyfest is an important festival to our Māori and Pasifika communities. It is a competitive, community environment where students showcase their cultural performances and learn about other cultures.

Our reporter Ann Tauilo spoke to the Taupou, Fuataimi and Fa’aluma of Manurewa High School’s Samoan group in her last visit to their rehearsals before the big day. They give us an insight into the significance of their role in the overall performance and what it means to them to perform.

Polyfest 2021 runs from Wednesday 14 April – Saturday 17 April at the Manukau Sports Bowl.
