Tapasā Navigating Futures proudly launches Atafa o le Moana, a movement aimed at amplifying the voices of Pacific youth who are leading with culture, courage, and compassion.
Atafa brings together 16 young leaders aged 15–20 driving change across Aotearoa, from mental health and climate action to education, entrepreneurship, and cultural revival.
“Atafa o le Moana isn’t just a programme it’s a declaration,” says Ella Falakoa (Niuean), Strategic Lead of Tapasā. “Our youth aren’t waiting for permission to lead; they’re already doing it.”
Through cultural workshops, storytelling, and community projects, these young leaders are sharing what it means to navigate the future as Tagata Moana.
From Jesse Tima (16, Samoan), an orator challenging inequity, to Esmae Salesa (20, Tongan/Samoan), a designer reimagining Pacific fashion through lalaga, the cohort showcases the creativity, courage, and vision of a generation rising.
“Pacific youth deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated,” says Annika Vaimaila Schwalger (16, Samoan). “We’re grounded in who we are and ready to shape the systems that shape us.”
Tapasā will release individual Atafa profiles over the coming weeks.
