Taualeo’o Stephen Stehlin, veteran television producer of more than 30 years is one of five leading graduates from the University of Auckland who will receive a Distinguished Alumni
Award for outstanding achievements and contribution to society.
Taualeo’o who graduated from Auckland University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts, is renowned for his work on Tagata Pasifika as well as his work on a number of shows and short films with the development of the Tala Pasifika short films early in his career.
Through his work for TVNZ and his own company SunPix, he has created a remarkable legacy of encouraging Pacific talent, reflecting Pacific culture, and extensively supporting New Zealand television, dance and theatre.
The 2025 recipients are an inspiring group of individuals representing integrity, aspiration and achievement across a broad range of disciplines.
The awards exemplify the University’s commitment to excellence, innovation and service, says Mark Bentley, Director of Alumni Relations and Development.
