If you thought Kiwis were the biggest All Blacks fans in the world, you probably haven’t seen Hollywood superstar Jason Momoa fangirling over them yet.
“If you know me,” Momoa wrote on Instagram, “you know I’m a f****ing HUGE All Blacks fan.”
The Hawaiian actor had a special meet and greet with some of the players in Tāmaki Makaurau recently, including Ofa Tu’ungafasi, Rieko Ioane and Caleb Clarke. The boys then called AB legend Tana Umaga to join the fray.
“I’m still smiling, I’m so very thankful to have met you all. Mahalo for the signed jerseys and amazing memories,” Momoa wrote.
The last time Momoa got up close with a former All Black was in a 2013 interview with Seven Sharp. He mentioned to reporter Craig Stanaway that he was a massive fan of Inga ‘the Winger” Tuigamala.
Stanaway promptly called the sporting legend and organised a little meet-up between the two. “You’re as big in real life as you are on television,” Tuigamala exclaimed when he saw Momoa approaching.
Momoa was welcomed with a pōwhiri at Auckland Airport upon his arrival last week, and received a gift of pounamu.
The star is apparently on Kiwi shores to scout for locations for his newest Apple+ series ‘Chief of War’.
The actor will also serve as a writer and executive producer on the project.
