A visual feast of stunning lingerie, colourful staging and dynamic choreography – Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 2 was a celebration of creativity, body diversity and inclusivity.

Airing on Amazon Prime Video during Paris Fashion Week, style-starved fans were treated to a sensual digital spectacle which offered a brief respite from Covid restricted fashion events.

The show featured a whole host of models, singers, actors and celebrities. But for many Kiwi fans of dance, it was the familiar faces from the Palace Dance Studios which set social media alight.

Royal Family Crew members Renee Salesa, Teesha Taulepa, Jessica Toatoa, Corbyn Taulealea Huch, Shyvon Campbell and Lance Savali all made an appearance, alongside more than 50 dancers.

Savali has danced alongside Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, Beyonce and Rihanna herself. This, however, was his first time to feature in the Savage X Fenty Fashion Show.

Savali says he was “grateful AF to be a part of such an amazing show that shows such diversity and equality!”

“I hope when people watch this s**t they realize that anything is possible!”

Kiwi-Samoan choreographer Parris Goebel took the Savage X Fenty reigns for a third time, choreographing and directing the dance pieces peppered throughout the show.

Many fashion publications heaped praise on Goebel for her innovative and high-powered choreography, with Vogue US commenting, “Parris Goebel’s energetic choreography is used to great effect, bringing energy to the proceedings from the very first scene.”

Goebel, who has worked with Rihanna several times in the past, posted about her experience online.

“Every year you push me as a creative and as a woman. I had no idea that through these shows and the women I’ve crossed paths with…I would find myself.” says Goebel.

“You just get me and I am so blessed for that. You allow me to create whatever I want, choose the songs and everything, like who does that?! There isn’t a single moment I take for granted and at the end of the day I’m just a girl from little ol’ New Zealand now standing next to her biggest inspiration.”

The Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 2 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
