R&B artist JP releases a blockbuster visual for his single Pull Up (the remix), featuring NZ rapper Bbydreco.
Following up on the single Pull Up released a year ago, Tongan artist JP shares the remix featuring South African-born rapper Bbydreco and a cinematic music video with a deep meaning behind it.
JP says he’s dropping this after a year because he’s been busy with important projects catering to his acting talents, like the feature film “Red, White & Brass” (executively produced by Taika Waititi) where JP plays the leading role, and the South Pacific Pictures TV series “Far North”.
The Pull Up (Remix) music video is a sultry blockbuster packed with choreography, slick edits, fashion serves and a twist of an ending. Bbydreco brings in his effortless rap flow, complimenting JP’s smooth R&B-pop vocals while the whole crew gives us a compelling and alluring performance.
JP says that the music video “hints at certain issues that are rarely explored in New Zealand music; the toxic male gaze and the power dynamics that exist from that, how comfortable we are watching people embrace their sexuality and perhaps even a subtle commentary on society’s obsession with trans and female bodies. We can’t take our eyes off the leading lady Leah Pao and her girls…and they know it. That’s why their plan works.”
Pull Up (Remix) feat Bbydreco is out now.
