Traditional Samoan song Lo Ta Nu’u – Vocal FX (Lockdown version!)

Vocal FX have done it again.

The Wellington a capella group went viral last year with their version of Lo Ta Nu’u, sung with Co-Director Jeff Hunkin’s dad Galumalemana Alfred Hunkin during one of their rehearsals.

Now, in New Zealand’s Covid-19 Alert Level 4 lockdown, the group have made a version with members singing from their respective bubbles.

“This song is special to our chorus, sung during times of mourning, but also in times of celebration. It brings us peace when we are troubled, it brings us strength when we are down. We share it today in solidarity with our fellow New Zealanders, and indeed with everyone around the world at this time.

“Kia kaha, Aotearoa! We’ll get through this together.”

The collaboration was produced by chorus member Nikau Wi Neera; video by Hayden Smith.
