The Niuean community are mourning the loss of one of their mentors, advisors, consultants who worked tirelessly for his community. Tahailo Fasi passed away last Sunday after a battle with Cancer at age 66.
Taha held several key roles within the wider Auckland community as a board member of the Pacific Islands Advisory Board in Waitakere and was part of community discussions with the development and introduction of the Auckland Super City in 2010.
Taha was also known for his work in the education sector and seen as a strong presence in community development of the Niue people. He had a love for Vagahau Niue, the traditions and culture.
Sir Collin Dr. Tukuitoga paid tribute and says it is a sad occasion for Niueans.
“Taha was an active community leader, he was helpful in a whole range of areas trying to create opportunities to help Niueans who were living in New Zealand.”
Taha is survived by his wife Robyn and his children and grandchildren.
