Pacific broadcast journalists are being recognised for their talents and expertise in this year’s Voyager media awards.
108 finalists across 36 awards have been selected in the 51st annual New Zealand Media awards.
The awards bring the news media industry together to celebrate excellence in New Zealand journalism and the pivotal role that journalists play in keeping New Zealanders informed. The awards recognise and reward the best in the craft.
Pacific media organisation Sunpix Ltd lead the nominations with Tagata Pasifika’s Senior reporters John Pulu and Soana Aholelei finalists for the Le Mana Pacific Award alongside 1News journalist Indira Stewart from TVNZ.
Sunpix Ltd and TP+ is also a finalist in the Best Current Affairs (Long) or Documentary category for Our Country’s Shame.
Veteran journalist for 1News Barbara Dreaver is up for the Best Short Form Video of the Year category for her piece on the Auckland Downtown shooting.
Judges based across four countries, New Zealand, Australia, Rarotonga and the United States, co-judged in groups of two and three to select winners from around one thousand entries.
