The 2024 Science Journalism Awards celebrate excellent reporting on science-related topics across all forms of media.
Two awards will be offered: one for established professionals and one for emerging journalists. Nine finalists have emerged from 58 submissions for the inaugural award ceremony.
Graduate from the Te Rito Journalism Cadet programme Grace Tinetali-Fiavaai is nominated for the emerging journalist category for her piece published in the NZ Herald – Traditional tattooing practices in the spotlight: Workshop aims to prevent infection or tragedy.
Science Journalism topics cover a wide range of topics including:Mātauranga Māori and Pacific traditional knowledge, emerging technologies, environmental and climate impacts, medicine and health research and natural hazards,
The winners will be announced at a special ceremony tonight in Wellington.
