Klikiti is a game created in the early 19th century after the misisonaries introduced cricket to Samoa. But in true island fashion, the game was altered to suit the village style of play.

More players, a longer bat, a bouncier ball, and a lavalava for a uniform saw it quickly become one of Samoa’s favorite sports. Today, NZ sports news continues to showcase how the sport thrives in Aotearoa’s church communities. And these days it’s kept alive in Aotearoa by the church community.
