Quality catch-ups and chicken burgers. Patrick Pellegrini gears up for this weekend’s clash after a short break during last week’s bye.
The past two weeks have been a major turn around for Patrick Pellegrini of Moana Pasifika.
The 26 year old has gone from just being one of the signings at the franchise, to now being touted as the signing of the year for the whole competition.
Pellegrini made his presence known in Super Rugby Pacific 2025, impressing in his first start for Moana in their win over the Hurricanes two weeks ago.
His performance earned him praise from rugby fans and pundits crediting his efforts for the win.
“It means a lot. I have been working hard this pre-season and same for the boys” Pellegrini said.
“For us to get out there and put on a performance like that and get the result is very good. And it shows the hard work we’ve been putting in recently.”
Moana are coming off a bye week after their win, and are now preparing to go up against the Chiefs in Pukekohe on Friday night.
The week off was a chance for Pellegrini to travel back home to Australia to his family for a few days. He even had a chance to grab a munch from one of his favourite takeaway spots.
“I went back to Sydney for a few days and hung out with family and friends for a few nights.”
“Every time I get a chance to go back home, I always get a chicken burger from Krazy Chix burger. They’re the best burgers in town”
Looking ahead for their clash with the Chiefs, Pellegrini is already relishing the opportunity to go head to head with the former champions.
The clash might also see him line up opposite All Blacks and Chiefs playmaker Damian McKenzie whose speed and agility has made him a threat for opponents.
Pellegrini believes that the week break was essential for them to reset and be up for the challenge.
“It’s been good to have a week off, but the boys are keen to get back on the field and play in front of our home crowd.”
“Just keep on driving our game plan, and when we stick to our game plan it works really well. So just making sure that each week we know our roles and keep driving that every game.”
