The upcoming rugby league international season is sizing up to be an entertaining one off the back of an amazing NRL season.
As the Kiwis look to prepare for the Pacific Rugby League Championship, Dally M winger Dallin Watene Zelezniak will not be donning the black jersey.
As of now, Watene Zelezniak has two options whether to undergo minor surgery or remain on field and wear the red strip of Mate Ma’a Tonga.
NZ Rugby League chief executive Greg Peters confirmed via Newshub that Watene Zelezniak had openly expressed his choice of not being included in the Kiwis, a story in new zealand sports news.
“He’s a wonderful bloke,” he said.
“That’s one of the wonderful things about rugby league.
“Players will make their decisions, factoring in their family links, culture and things they should be considering. Dallin is at that stage where he wants to pursue that, and we respect that.”
An inclusion in the Tongan side would be a major boost for the Pacific nation especially with their fans and community.
