MG Northern Mystics captain Sulu Fitzpatrick has been ruled out of round five of the ANZ Premiership after sustaining an injury to her left knee during last Sunday’s game versus the Stars.
Sulu’s recovery and gradual return to play continues to be monitored while she receives treatment from the team’s medical staff.
The veteran defenders’ absence has opened an opportunity for young talent including Northern Marvels defender Catherine Hall to join the fold for upcoming back-to-back matches versus the Southern Steel on Saturday 1 April and the Central Pulse on Monday 3 April.
Catherine trained with the Mystics consistently throughout pre-season and has impressed so far during her time in the National Netball League.
Sulu is no stranger to the netball scene in the country, She was a formidable figure in the national teams 2022 Commonwealth Games campaign. She burst onto the international scene in 2011, leading the NZ Under21 team.
In April 2022, Sulu was included on a list of the 25 best players to feature in netball leagues in New Zealand since 1998.
Her return to the ANZ Premiership will be determined based on how she responds to treatment and the rehabilitation process.
