On October 25, the Tuia 250 Voyage will make its way into the Waitematā Harbour to conclude the Auckland Heritage Festival. A flotilla of heritage waka and ships will arrive together with French Polynesian group Sounds of the Sea. The group’s leader, Ena Manuireva, believes this event will be an opportune time for the public to learn more about Tupaia, the Tahitian navigator and priest who sailed aboard the Endeavour together with Captain Cook.
