Pacific playwright Leki Jackson-Bourke has been awarded Victoria University’s inaugural Emerging Pasifika Writer in Residence Award for 2019.

Hundreds of Pacific tertiary workers gathered at Victoria University of Wellington this week in a bid to pave the way forward for Pasifika education.

Known as Ta’okota’i’anga, a gathering of Cook Islands students from five universities around NZ kicked off in Auckland this week.

Pacific people could benefit from a new trades training system set up to tackle skills shortages across a number of sectors.

Just under half of Pasifika who enrolled in institutes of technology and polytechnics in the last eight years dropped out in their first year.
