The Tongan Health Society has opened its Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic.
HRH Mele Siu`ilikutapu Kalaniuvalu Fotofili opened the vaccination clinic in Onehunga and was the first to receive her vaccination at the same time.
“For me personally, I’m doing this for the loved ones around me, for their protection as well as for myself,” said HRH.
The Society was chosen by the NRHCC as one of the Tranche 1 General Practice providers to run a Covid-19 vaccination centre in the community.
CEO and Medical Director Dr Glenn Doherty said: “We were privileged to have HRH open the centre and encourage members of our clinics and the Tongan community generally to have the vaccine.”
He said there were still some members of the community ambivalent about having the vaccine.
Over time the centre is aiming to do 75 vaccinations per day and is open six days a week.
