Drawing on the same MMT spirit which saw thousands of Tongan fans rally together to support their island team, the Malu’i Ma’a Tonga campaign implores Tongans in Auckland to come through to the drive-through vaccination centre starting today.
Held at the S.U.T.T. Tuingapapai in Māngere, the church has been transformed into a Tongan village for three days, a space big enough to accommodate large groups and families to drive through and get vaccinated together.
An initiative driven by Kolo Tonga (Tongan Village) — a collaboration of churches, community groups, leaders and Auckland health providers — the team believe Malu’i Ma’a Tonga’s ethnic-specific approach is more accessible and will help boost vaccination rates in the Tongan community.
Within the three days, Kolo Tonga aim to get at least 3000 people vaccinated. All Tongan people aged 12 and over are welcome.
