He may have quite a number of acting notches on his belt, but this just might be the breakout Hollywood role he has been waiting for. Hawaii Five-0 actor Beulah Koale has been cast in the film Dual, a sci-fi thriller written by up-and-coming writer Riley Stearns (An Act of Violence).

As reported in Deadline earlier this week, Dual follows the story of a young woman played by Karen Gillan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Guardians of the Galaxy) who “after receiving a terminal diagnosis, opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. When she makes a miraculous recovery, her attempts to have her clone decommissioned fail and lead to a court-mandated duel to the death.”

The film will also star former Stearns collaborator Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland) and Emmy-winning actor Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Westworld).

Koale announced the news on his Instagram today: “I get a chance to work with the writer/ director/ martial artist. I mean….look at that CAST it’s stacked, and I get to work with these awesome people.”

The Samoan/Tuvaluan actor has gained much experience working in both the US film and television industries. In 2017 he starred in Thank You For Your Service playing real-life Iraq war veteran Tausolo Aieti. He gained a fan-following for his role in the Hawaii Five-0 reboot playing Junior Reigns, a former Navy SEAL and current member of the Hawaii 5-0 task force.

Next Goal Wins is Koale’s latest project which is expected to be released later this year. Directed by Taika Waititi, the sports comedy is based on the the 2014 documentary of the same name and features Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Shame), Emmy-award winner Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Invisible Man) Armie Hammer (The Social Network, Call Me By Your Name) and Uli Latukefu (The Legend of Baron To’a).
