Holy Spirit activate! Soul Sessions back for Season 2

TONE6 will be featuring on the second season of Soul Sessions

With the Easter weekend upon us, Pacific Gospel music show Soul Sessions has made a timely comeback with its second season.

Hosting an array of musical soul and gospel talent from around the motu, Soul Sessions fills a gap in the local television landscape by celebrating popular gospel music.

For the show’s creator, host and award-winning singer Sara-Jane Elika, hosting Soul Sessions is a dream come true, “gospel music is a massive genre internationally,” enthuses Elika.

“In Aotearoa, we have some amazing artists who have made an impact. I think of Brooke Fraser, who won a Grammy award for her music and she is a proud New Zealander and Fijian.”

The show explores the gospel music scene in Aotearoa and not only does Sara-Jane interview the musicians, she also performs a live duet with her guests.

“Our artists have come from all around the motu including Kaitaia, Christchurch, Gisborne and Tāmaki Makaurau,” says Elika.

“We’ll be showcasing a distinct blend of harmonies that has a strong Pacific and Māori flavour – but it’s a sound that resonates with anyone and everyone who enjoys good music”.

The second season will feature live music from top award-winning talent including Nick Afoa, of The Lion King fame, Evile Laloata from The Voice Australia, Ruawhaitiri of Ka Hao, Tone 6, Sassy, and Andrew Faleatua.

“I’m grateful that there is an audience who are keen and eager to hear gospel music in NZ. There are so many stories and well-known songs that will be shared – which reflects the popular nature of gospel music in NZ”.

Season Two of Soul Sessions will air here on TP+ on Friday 17th April at 7pm.
