Caretaker Minister for Foreign Affairs Nanaia Mahuta took to social media to outline the response from New Zealand to support the recovery of Vanuatu in the aftermath of Cyclone Lola.
Minister Mahuta announced on X (formerly twitter) that a RNZAF aerial surveillance and relief supply flight with five NZ disaster response experts, has been deployed to Vanuatu and will conduct a surveillance flight to help assess the damage.
On top of this New Zealand has committed $100k to respond to additional requests from the Vanuatu Government and $350k will go to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency ( ADRA) for relief supplies.
The Minister says she was deeply saddened to hear reports of three deaths during Cyclone Lola. She says prayers and thoughts are with the families and the people of Vanuatu during this difficult time.
