A further five people have died in French Polynesia to Covid-19, raising the death toll to 61.
The number of cases has increased by 241 overnight, raising the tally to 12,362.
The coronavirus is concentrated on Tahiti but has spread across all archipelagos.
It has forced Tahiti Nui TV to cancel its news programmes for at least two days.
All but 62 cases were detected after the borders were reopened in July and mandatory quarantine requirements were abolished.
A nightly curfew has been in place since late last month and meetings in public are limited to six people.
