The Pacific Music Awards Trust is calling on the community to help secure the future of the Pacific Music Awards, launching a fundraising campaign as the event prepares to celebrate its 21st year.
For more than two decades, the Pacific Music Awards have celebrated the achievements of Pacific artists, songwriters, producers and creatives across Aotearoa.
However, ongoing changes to funding and significant cuts to public arts investment have created growing challenges for the long-term sustainability of the awards.
To help ensure the awards continue for future generations, the Trust has launched a fundraising campaign through Koha, an Aotearoa-built giving platform co-founded by Te Awanui Reeder (Awa of Nesian Mystik). Every donation made through the platform will go directly towards supporting the Pacific Music Awards.
“It’s always humbling to ask our community for support, especially during challenging times,” the Trust said.
“Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us continue recognising and celebrating our incredible Pacific music community.”
The fundraising campaign launches alongside ticket sales for the 2026 Pacific Music Awards, which will be held on Wednesday 12 August. The annual event will present 21 awards and feature live performances from some of Aotearoa’s leading Pacific artists.
This year’s awards recognise 33 finalists, highlighting the diversity and excellence of Pacific music across the country.
Music fans are also encouraged to support this year’s finalists by streaming their music, attending live performances and exploring artist profiles on the Pacific Music Awards website.
