Pacific people have the lowest vaccination rate for any group in New Zealand. Fijian GP Dr Api Talemaitoga says the rates are terrible and he feels like a broken record. “It is really frustrating. Covid-19 crisis in Fiji: “The best hope now is with the vaccination”

Fiji health authorities continue to battle the Covid-19 outbreak that’s so far claimed 360 lives. With around 24,000 active cases, government reports that around 50% of those who’ve died were at home and were not able to get medical treatment.

When it comes to vaccinations, 90% of the target population has received one dose of the vaccine with 34.5% now fully vaccinated. Marama T-Pole spoke to our Covid-19 expert and Fijian concerned about this homeland, Dr Api Talemaitoga.
