COO of The Fono Sally Dalhousie accepts the Ministry for Pacific Peoples Pacific Community Leadership Award, dedicated to her Mum.
Sally grew up in Invercargill, where her Tongan mother had a strong association with P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A. Sally herself is a former National President of P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A, the first Pacific board member of Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers and COO of The Fono, one of New Zealand’s largest Pacific NGOs.

Meet Le Va Pacific Emerging Leadership Award Winner Aigagalefili Fepulea’i Tapua’i. Aigagalefili has been a strong advocate for high school students through Covid-19 in New Zealand, fighting for equity across education. As Aorere College Head Girl, she is a role model to fellow students and recently protested with other students against school violence. She is also a climate change activist leading South Auckland based indigenous environmentalist group 4TK.

Meet Le Va Pacific Emerging Leadership Award Winner Tatyana Manoa. Tatyana was a prefect at Marlborough Girls’ College, and this year is studying at Canterbury University to be a teacher. She’s passionate about Pasifika culture being better understood, education and making sure all children get the opportunities that life offers.

Meet the Ministry for Pacific Peoples Pacific Community Leadership Award Winner Sally Dalhousie. Sally grew up in Invercargill where her Tongan mother had a strong association with P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A. She herself then went on to become the National President of P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A, the first Pacific board member of Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers and did further postgraduate study at Otago University and Harvard. She’s had management roles at Waipareira Pasifika Ltd and the Anglican Trust for Women and Children and is the current Chief Operating Officer at health service The Fono.

Rachel is the Chief Executive of The Cause Collective, an organisation leading social change in South Auckland. She’s the force behind initiatives such as Do Good, Feel Good, Healthy Families South Auckland and Prepare Pacific, a website providing Covid-19 information for Pasifika communities in New Zealand.
