The Ha’atafu Beach Resort, located 21km west of the capital Nuku’alofa is now ‘unrecognisable’.
The beachside accommodation has 13 rooms for guests but has been destroyed by the tsunami.
Speaking from Rotorua, Alan Burling spoke to John Pulu about his sister Moana and her family who operate the resort.
