The Pasifika medical fraternity based in New Zealand will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pasifika Medical Association.

The organisation was created to ensure the health and wellbeing of Pacific people was catered to as well as a place to provide advocacy.

PMA President, Dr Kiki Maote acknowledges the journey of PMA over the last three decades.

“Many of our Pacific health leaders who were there at the beginning of PMA’s journey are no longer with us, but we can see their legacy come to life through this new generation of Pacific health professionals every day, that makes us overwhelmingly proud.”

The milestone will coincide with their annual PMA conference that will be held in Auckland in August.

Conference Convenor, Dr Josephine Aumea Herman, looks forward to the robust discussions ahead to bolster the future of Pacific health.

“Together, we celebrate over three decades of Pacific excellence in health while boldly shaping a future health system that delivers equitable, culturally grounded care for all in New Zealand and across the Pacific region.”
