West Auckland’s much-loved Whau Pasifika Festival is back for its 11th year, running from Thursday 26 June to Saturday 5 July. The festival coincides with the first week of the school holidays. Organisers say the festival boasts its biggest and boldest programme yet.

Deputy Chair of the Whau Local Board, Fasitua Amosa, says the festival has become a cultural mainstay for the region.

“The Whau Pasifika Festival brings people together across cultures, ages, and communities. This year’s theme, Kotahitanga, reflects unity, partnership, and respect under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.”

Festival Director Ina Sauni says this year’s lineup is a vibrant celebration of Pacific identity and creativity, with exciting firsts in store.

“We’re thrilled to present West Auckland’s first-ever Siva Afi (fire dancing) competition,  a high-energy showcase of cultural tradition and skill. Plus, we’re launching a Pasifika Fashion Show featuring 12 designers in a converted textile warehouse. It’ll be an unforgettable experience.”

The festival continues to champion connection, creativity, and community spirit.

The free event is open to all.
