Tonga’s heir to the throne Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukalala married his second cousin the Hon Sinaitakala Fakafanua which has caused a division among the royal family.
The Queen mother and Princess Salote Mafile’o Pilolevu Tuita (the grooms Aunt) did not attend the lavish celebration because they did not agree with close blood ties of this union.
A representative of the royal family told us there is limited candidates and the bride had all the qualities fit to marry the crown prince.
But while the focus was on the wedding, Tonga’s parliament is facing collapse as opposition MP’s are demanding the PM Lord Tu’ivakano to step down through a vote of no confidence. This comes after the resignations of three ministers from cabinet and continuous reshuffle of ministerial portfolios.
It’s been 18 months since Tonga held its first democratic elections and Parliament will meet on Thursday (19th July) to debate the motion of no confidence
